Meet Nasrin

As the founder and president of FREEE, Nasrin Parsian is intimately familiar with the need for women’s education and empowerment.

Nasrin spent her formative years in Iran, amidst an extremist regime led by Ruhollah Khomeini. She lived in a world where women were not men’s equal: They were considered, at best, to have only half the value of a man. Nasrin had no freedom of speech, no access to education, no choice in her religion, no ability to safely express herself. From her lived experience, she understands the complexities and terrors of living in a country where your very existence is constantly at risk.

But despite what the Iranian cultural norms dictated, Nasrin was born a leader. She has led an illustrious career in broadcast journalism in both Iran and the US, reporting openly and honestly on oppression. Nasrin fled to Germany, but even here Nasrin faced threats against her life.

As a survivor of violent oppression, Nasrin has a passion for empowering women and helping them to embrace their divinely appointed freedoms. Her work with Iranian refugees earned her a note of recognition from President George W. Bush—and it is this same work that she is now expanding, with the goal of helping women the world over. She brings the full force of her experience, insights, and resources to FREEE, backed by an extensive network dedicated to the rights of expression, equality, and education for women everywhere.

In the pursuit of equality, empowerment, and education for women the world over, Nasrin has been a guest speaker at schools across the US and Europe; she has been a frequent keynote speaker for events hosted by Amnesty International, an organization she worked with for two years; she has spoken out for justice on Persian, European, and US media outlets; she has organized rallies in Europe and attended many Persian rallies; and she has connected with important politicians and heads of state across the US and Europe to discuss women’s issues.

In her tireless efforts against the oppressive regime in her home country, Nasrin hosted her own television show, where she gave voice to the voiceless. For two years, Nasrin used her platform to speak for prisoners, women, and students in Iran—and to speak out against the government that has supplanted the true people of this beautiful nation.

Nasrin holds a certification in Journalism from the University of Tehran, BA in Farsi Literature From Kashan University in Iran, her MA in Organization and Leadership from Miramar University in San Diego, and her EdD in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University.
